Abstract

Traumatic experience finds its expression in multiple alternate ways, one of which is writing. Writing down one’s traumatic experience provides the scope of healing to the victim, as it facilitates the cathartic release of the pain. Thus, “scriptotherapy” or the act of writing off the traumatic experience becomes therapeutic, as discussed by Suzzette Henke in Shattered Subjects. This article, therefore, explores the manner of representation of trauma in the poems of Mira in The Binding Vine, and on the manner in which ‘scriptotherapy’ aids in her healing and survival.
